Missing since May 25, Tral resident detained during CASO, rifle recovered

Security forces on Wednesday claimed to have detained a man who was missing since May 25 during a cordon-and-search operation in South Kashmir’s Nagpathri hamlet of Tral township of police district Awantipora.

During the operation forces also claimed to have recoveredarms and ammunition from his possession.

   

A senior police officer told Greater Kashmir that a jointteam of army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir police laid a cordonat Nagpathri hamlet on Wednesday morning.

“During the cordon, a missing person was detained bythe joint team and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from his possession,” hesaid.

The person was identified as Muhammad Maqbool Ganaie ofGutangoo Laam Tral.

According to his family, Ganaie had gone missing on May 25.The family filed a missing report in concerned police station following whichhe was apprehended.

As per sources, prior to this incident Ganaie was arrestedon several occasions for the same charges.

Meanwhile forces launched cordon and search operation inChatergam village of Tral on Wednesday.

Door to door searches were going on in the area when thisreport was being filed.
