Mobile Internet service was suspended in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday following a militant attack on a police guard in Wadwan village.
An official said that Internet service was shut “as a precautionary measure” to prevent spreading of rumours.
A constable Shamim Ahmad was killed after militants looking to snatch weapons attacked a police guard in Wadwan.
Following the attack, clashes erupted between youth and the forces after the former pelted army with stones.
Reports said that a youth sustained bullet injury after army men fired to disperse the protesters.
