Noted Islamic scholar Moulana Muhammad Ashraf Andrabi passed away on Tuesday at his residence in Zadoora Pulwama. He was 90.
He was the founder and chief patron of Shah-i-Hamdan Trust Pampore and Darul Uloom Gousia Hamdania Monghama Pulwama. The deceased was born in 1926 and got his education from Lahore and Deoband.
Several leaders have expressed grief over his demise and prayed for the departed soul.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, NC working president Omar Abdullah, NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar and others have condoled the demise of Moulana Andrabi.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister said that the demise of a very distinguished Islamic scholar is a great loss to the society.
Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu has also condoled the demise of Moulana Andrabi and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
President Anjuman Ulma-e-Ahnaf, Maulana Akhzar while expressing grief over the demise of the noted scholar said that he was a reputed Islamic scholar who spent his whole life for sake of Islam and helping downtrodden.
Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association led by Moulana Imran Raza Ansari, Jammu and Kashmir Itehad-ul-Muslimeen led by Moulana Abass Ansari and Jammu and Kashmir Bazm-e-Sadat Hamdaniya also condoled the demise, saying it is a great loss to the society.
Mutahida Ahl-e-Sunat chairman Moulana Riyazul Haq has also condoled the demise.
