Brisk voting was witnessed in Municipal Committee Sumbal where over 22 per cent voters exercised their franchise in first six hours of polls on Wednesday.
An official said that 1754 people (939 male and 815 female) cast their votes till 12 pm.
Meanwhile, about two per cent of the electorate voted in the first five hours of polling in 49 wards of urban local bodies in Kashmir Valley, where elections are being held amid tight security, officials said Wednesday.
Voting for the second of the four-phased elections in the Valley began at 6 am and will end at 4 pm.
