My area dependent on PaK for irrigation: MLA Karnah
Peoples Democratic Party MLA Raja Manzoor on Wednesday told the Legislative Assembly that his constituency Karnah, which is located on LoC, was dependent on Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) for irrigation of agriculture and horticulture fields.
Participating in the discussion on demand for grants for Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, the MLA said: "I am seeking water from Pakistan to irrigate agriculture land of people in my constituency."
He said the Government has failed to develop the irrigation canal system in his constituency in the past 60 years.
The MLA demanded that Government should intervene to address the problem faced by the people in his constituency.
On Tuesday, Javaid Murchil, Member of Legislative Council, had in Upper House said that the Dahni Sadpora village in Karnah tehsil was still dependent on Pakistan for irrigating its agriculture land.
"Every year, poor farmers from the village collect money in a handkerchief and throw it to the other side so that water for irrigation is supplied to them," the PDP legislator had said. GKNN
