National Conference on Saturday expressed concern over loss of livestock to herdsmen in upper reaches of DH Pora, Kulgam, following incessant rains, hailstorm and lighting. The party asked the district administration to give adequate compensation to the affected.
In a statement, MP Hasnain Masoodi also spoke to Deputy Commissioner Kulgam regarding the matter and asked him to depute a team to the affected area to assess the losses at an earliest to ensure the affected do not undergo trepidation in the days to come.
Expressing concern over the losses incurred by the herdsmen, Masoodi said the livestock was the only possession of the affected and that the calamity that has struck their livestock has rendered them hopeless.
“Grappling with the grief, they have set their eyes on administration to rescue them from the setback. It is expected the district administration will assess the losses at an earliest and ensure disbursement of compensation to the affected without delay,” Masoodi said.
