Opposition National Conference party on Monday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the government's failure to stop civilian killings in the Kashmir valley.

Scores of NC leaders and activists took out the rally from the party's Nawa-e-Subh headquarters to TRC to denounce the killings.

Taking to reporters, senior NC leader Ali Mohammad Sagar took a dig at the government over the prevalent situation in the state.

"Everywhere there is hopelessness and despair across state. This government is alive on military options and has adopted it instead of winning hearts of people through dialogue," said Sagar.

He said day in and out a dozen people are killed across Kashmir, pushing state further into distress.

Sagar, who is also incumbent MLA Khanyar, said arrest spree has been launched across the state under operation 'All Out' bringing fear into the minds of people.

Sagar also lashed at the government over the death of a young protestor who was mowed down by a police vehicle in Noorbagh area of Srinagar-the video of which had gone viral gone across social media, triggering outrage.
