Neolithic Period in Kashmir discussed at IKS

The Institute of Kashmir Studies (IKS), University of Kashmir (KU) organised a public talk on ‘Revisiting Neolithic Kashmir: Approaches and Methods’ by Prof Aijaz A. Bandey, former Director, Centre for Central Asian Studies, KU.

Prof Muhammad Yusuf Ganai, Director, IKS welcomed theinvited speaker, and introduced the public lecture series to the audience. Theaudience included faculty members, research scholars and students from socialsciences at the university.

   

Prof Bandey deliberated upon key features and rich heritageof the Neolithic period in Kashmir. Speaking from his own experience, he askedthe students to give special attention to research methodology and to engagecritically with Kashmir’s history. The talk was followed by an engagingdiscussion on the period. Deliberating on the importance of quality research onKashmir’s pasts, Prof Ganie concluded the session and presented the vote ofthanks.
