While supporting the protest call given by the separatist leadership, United Jihad Council (UJC) Thursday termed the government decision of issuing domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees as a "ploy".
The UJC alleged that the Government of India "is hell bent to change the demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir, which is a Muslim majority state."
In an e-mailed statement to local news agency KNS, the UJC spokesman, Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the outfit chief, Syed Salah-ud-din as saying that "Pakistan should not act as mute spectator over the ploy of changing the demography of Jammu and Kashmir."
According to the statement, while addressing a special meeting of UJC, Salah-ud-din said, "Narendra Modi led government with the full support of the state government is hatching a conspiracy to change the Muslim majority state into Muslim minority state and issuing domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees is in connection with this ploy."
Stating that such decisions are not acceptable to the people of Kashmir, the UJC chief said, "Kashmiris won't allow such kind of happenings and Pakistan which is one among the stakeholders must not act as mute spectator over the issue."
He appealed International Community to intervene into the matter. KNS
