General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon, Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) was a mini-India and the country's best regiment.
Addressing the passing-out parade of recruits at JAKLI regimentalcentre Rangreth here, GoC Dhillon said JAKLI has a great history of valour andcourage and that its soldiers have always kept the head of nation high.
"What makes JAKLI unique is that it has soldiers from allreligions -Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, etc. All of them are one unitwhich is the greatness of JAKLI," the GoC said. "This way, JAKLI is mini-India.Its soldiers are making Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh proud. They keep Kashmiriyatalive."
He congratulated all the 404 recruits and their parents. "Icongratulate you all for presenting a tremendous drill, well done boys. Today,404 recruits have become riflemen, I salute these people, their parents," theGoC said.
Hailing Subedar (Rtd) Muhammad Illyas for participating inthe rescue operation at Tandghar in Kupwara district where snow avalanche hitan army patrol, the GoC said, "Despite being a retired solider, Illyascontinued with his spirits and rescued those who were under snow."
He said that Illyas would be honoured for his bravery.
