The three-member search committee constituted to hunt for new vice-chancellor of the Kashmir University (KU) on Saturday concluded interactions with the stakeholders.

The search committee members also visited incumbent VC in his office and had a brief conversation about overall academics and research scenario in the varsity.

"Before leaving for New Delhi, the committee members visited VC's office and discussed overall working of the institution," officials said

The officials in varsity said the executive members of the all the associations who met search committee put forth a common point that the new VC should be a mix of academia and administration.

During the interactions, the demand that came forward was that the new VC should be an accomplished person of high integrity and unblemished career with remarkable contribution as an institution builder.  He should have clear evidence of having established a department, centre or institution of national repute and excellence.

It was also suggested that the new VC should be a person who has strong and distinct administrative acumen besides sound academic credentials.

The post of the KU Vice Chancellor was advertised last month following constitution of a search committee by the university's chancellor, the J&K Governor NN Vohra, in September 2017.

The search committee is headed by Prof DP Agarwal, former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission, while Prof Ehtisham Hasnain, vice-chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University New Delhi and Prof Vijay Gupta, former vice-chancellor of Sharda University are its members.
