NHM employees extend strike by 144 hours

The NHM employees today extended their strike by further 144 hours while the deadlock on negotiations between the government and the protesting employees continues.

Expressing dissatisfaction over their meeting with the health minister and the higher officials of the department, the NHM employees said they won’t let the government “trick us” into calling off the strike without giving a written “assurance on meeting our demands.”

Scores of employees today gathered in Pratap Park here and continued their protest. The protesting employees said that since the launch of NHM scheme in J&K in 2006, the state government “has failed to frame out a draft policy of regularization for them.” Interestingly, two rounds of talks were held so far between NHM employees and the government which ended on a deadlock, the employees said.
