No prediction of major snowfall till Dec 5: MeT

Srinagar: Director Meteorological Department, Sonam Lotus on Wednesday said that there is no prediction for any major snowfall as the weather will remain dry till December 5. Lotus said that “weather will remain cloudy with light snowfall in the higher reaches particularly in north Kashmir and Zojila Pass on Thursday”.

However, Lotus said there was no prediction for any major snowfall. “The weather will remain dry till December 5,” Lotus said.

   

Meanwhile, minimum temperature rose above the freezing point in Srinagar during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday due to nightlong cloud cover as the minimum temperature was 0.3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar while it was minus 2 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam and 0 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg.

Drass town recorded minus 8.7 degrees Celsius, Leh minus 8.3 degrees Celsius and Kargil minus 5.8 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperature during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jammu city recorded 10.2 degrees Celsius,Katra 8.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 5.2 degrees Celsius, Banihal 1.2 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 2.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature, MeT data said.
