Bandipora: A 55-year-old nomad from Rajouri district was killed and two of his family members injured after they were allegedly attacked by locals for pitching a tent in Kachi Behak meadow of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said today.

An official told Greater Kashmir that a nomadic family was establishing their tent for the night stay in the meadow on Wednesday when they were opposed by some members of a family from nearby village in Panar area, leading to a scuffle.

In the scuffle, Mohammad Iqbal Kalas, 55, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Anderwat village of Rajouri district and two other family members, Ranja Pokda, 70 and Rohi Akhter sustained injuries. They were rushed to the district hospital Bandipora, however Kalas succumbed on way to the facility, said the official.

A police official said they have taken cognisance and registered a case. He said the body was in the hospital for medico-legal formalities.
