North Kashmir: Suspected militants abduct civilian, injure three relatives in Hajin

Suspected militants abducted a civilian and injured his wife and two other relatives during a raid in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late Monday night.

Naseer Ahmad Sheikh, 26 as per family was taken up gunmen who barged inside his in-law’s house at Hajin town at around 10:15 pm.

   

“After barging inside our home they…kidnapped our son in law”, said Shaheen Ahmad Parray, relative of Sheikh adding that their three family members were also injured, while resisting attempts of gunmen to take him away.  He said they looked for him everywhere after the gunmen left. “We looked for him everywhere but to no avail,” said Shaheen.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman, in a statement, said that the gunmen were believed to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit. He said that the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire after barging in.

“The injured were shifted to Srinagar hospital for immediate treatment. One of the injured has firearm injury while the rest have been injured by sharp-edged weapon,” he said.

Station House Officer Hajin, Muneeb ul Islam said that efforts are on to trace the kidnapped person. He said an FIR has been registered and investigation started.

The police spokesman said that the kidnapped person is brother-in-law of Muzaffar Ahmad Parrey who was “ruthlessly killed by militants” last summer. His decapitated body was later fished out of Jhelum, said the spokesman.
