Now, contingent paid employees protest, demand regularisation

The All J&K Contingent Paid Employees Union today held a protest demonstration at press enclave here and threatened to lockdown all the educational institutions if government failed to regularize their services. 

They also demanded implementation of minimum wages act in respect of “chowkidars, cleaners working in education department for decades.”

   

“The chowkidars, cleaners. etc., in education department are getting meagre salaries of Rs 25 to 1000 per month. How can one feed his family on such a salary,” Nazir Ahmad Rather, president of the union said.

“We want government to come up with a clear regularization policy and give us the benefit of minimum wages act,” he said.

Hundreds of people are working as contingent paid employees across J&K in educational department on meagre salaries, he said.
