Omar visits slain minor boy’s family in Hajin

Former chief minister and National conference vice-president Omar Abdullah Tuesday visited the family of a minor boy who was killed recently during a gunfight in Hajin area of northern Bandipora district.

According to the police, 12-year-old Atif Mir was killedalong with two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in Mir Mohalla area of Hajin during agunfight on past Friday. The police said the minor boy had been taken hostageby a militant.

   

Omar visited the family to offer his condolences.

“Omar offered ‘fateha’ prayers and expressed sympathies withthe bereaved family,” an official, who accompanied Omar, said.

Omar was accompanied by NC’s parliamentary candidate fornorthern Kashmir seat Muhammad Akbar Lone, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Nasir Aslam Waniand Tanvir Sadiq.

After visiting the family, Omar took to twitter and said thefamily of 11-year-old boy Atif Mir was struggling to come to terms after hisdeath.

“His family are struggling to come to terms with their loss,especially his parents & 2 older sisters. May Allah grant young Atif Mirplace in Jannat (sic),” Omar tweeted.

In another tweet, Omar said: “Returning just now from Hajinwhere I had gone to condole the death of young Atif. Atif was an 11-year-oldboy, the only son of his parents, killed after he was taken hostage bymilitants last week”.

“There can be nothing worse for a father than to lendshoulder to his young child’s coffin & nothing worse for a mother than togrieve at her young child’s grave. Kashmir has seen too much of this sufferingheaped on parents,” he said in another tweet.
