Open new chapter in Kashmir’s history: Renzushah urges Governor Malik

Chairman of Kashmir Civil Society (KCS), Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, has urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to “open a new chapter in history of Kashmir” by returning public road from Gupkar passing through Raj Bhawan to people.

In a statementRenzushah said, “The present Jammu and Kashmir Governor is known for hissimplicity and pro-people approach.  Hehas taken bold steps to win hearts of people. The KCS urges him to throw thisroad open for public and open a new chapter in history of Kashmir by thisgracious act.”

He said, “Prior to 1989-90the road from Gupkar to SheerazBagh of Gul-e-Lala & Botanical garden was public road and not part of RajBhawan. It was the then Chief Minister, who gifted this road to then GovernorJagmohan as part of luxury of security and appeasement. Since then this publicalternate road to Boulevard has remained a part of Raj Bhavan. The CentralGovernment had approved six lane project for the Boulevard road but theerstwhile PDP government sabotaged the project.”

“Opening of this road would ease out pressure on theBoulevard road, where commuters usually get stuck in traffic jams for hourstogether,” Renzushah said.
