Police on Thursday claimed to have busted an over-ground worker module of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in Lolab area of northern district Kupwara.
“Two persons were detained for questioning, Shakir Ahmad Wani s/ o Mohammed Ramzan Wani and Ghulam Mustafa Sheikh s/o Abdul Ahad Sheikh, both residents of Tekipora, Lolab,” a police spokesperson said.
“After sustained questioning, a pistol was recovered on their disclosure,” he said.
The spokesperson claimed that the module was engaged in providing logistics support to militants apart from luring more youth into this path.
“A case FIR no.77 of 2018 u/s 7/25 Arms act 13 UAPA stands registered in police station Sogam in this regard,” he said.
He added that further investigation into this is in progress.
