Pak has no respect for Ramadhan: Mehbooba

Holding Pakistan responsible for the latest border flare up, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said the country is showing “no respect” for the holy month of Ramazan.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Mehbooba said: “Continued firing on the border in Jammu is cause of pain & worry. Sad that while our country took the lead in starting peace initiatives with cessation of operations during Ramzan, Pakistan has shown no respect whatsoever for this holy month”.

In another tweet, Mehbooba said: “Pakistan will have to reciprocate & contribute to efforts for lasting peace. Everyone must realise that violence is a zero sum game. My deepest condolences to families of victims”.

Earlier the CM expressed deep shock and grief over the  killings.

The Chief Minister described the incident as unfortunate saying it occurred when the holy month of Ramadhan had just begun and people had heaved sigh of relief due to the Centre’s welcome step of halting security operations in the state.

Mehbooba Mufti appealed for positive reciprocation by all stakeholders of the Centre’s peace move to let people of the state come out of the cycle of killings and uncertainty.

The Chief Minister has conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal solace to the departed souls.
