PaK migrants in Kashmir: Dy Commissioner Pulwama submits report in SHRC

Deputy commissioner Pulwama on Thursday submitted a report before State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) giving details about the land the migrants from PaK are residing on.

As per the report, 112 migrant families from PaK are presently residing in district Pulwama— 90 families at Tantraypora over 400 kanals and 10 marlas of land and 22 families at Aramulla over 85 kanals and 10 marlas.

However, the report has no mention of the PaK migrants who were earlier reportedly asked by the government to vacate the state-land at Lassipora.

A petition was filed by rights activist, Ahsan Untoo before the State Human Rights Commission, stating that the district administration had reportedly asked the PaK migrants to vacate the state-land at Lassipora in Pulwama where “21 families have been putting up since 1947.”

The petition quoting a group of young people (PaK migrants) reads, “We were born and brought up here. Why would we leave this place? Aren’t we the residents of this place? We have election cards and state subject certificates also. If the state government has no place for us then they should open the border so we will cross over to Pakistan.” GKNN
