Pakistan centre of hope for Muslims: Geelani

Greeting the Pakistan government, army and people on the “Pakistan Resolution Day”, chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed the country the centre of hope for the Muslim Ummah.

“The March 23, is such an important day when a resolution was passed for creation of separate nation for the Muslims some 77 years back and it is a dream realized when forces like Sangh Pariwar were opposing and spreading their venomous dogma against its creation,” Geelani said in a statement.

“It was the time when this kind of thinking was considered as impossible and the fanatic communal forces were harshly opposing this move but the determination of the leadership succeeded in creation of a paradise like resort for those aspiring to see their dream come true,” Geelani said. “Pakistan has been established on ideology instead of geography and every Pakistani should realize their duty to safeguard its fundamentals and ideology. Unparalleled sacrifices were presented for its creation and Pakistan has proved to be a great blessing for the Muslims. It has a political importance in the Muslim world and this country is centre of hope not only for the sub-continent but for the whole Muslim Ummah.”

The Hurriyat (G) chairman said,  “Pakistan has always extended its moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu Kashmir in their struggle for right to self determination. It is duty of the people of Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) and Pakistan to represent our aspiration in every corner and in all world forums.”

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Hurriyat (G)  said, “The deputy high commissioner Pakistan on Thursday spoke to Geelani Sahab over telephone and extended invitation to him to participate in Pakistan day celebrations. Geelani sahib while extending felicitations replied that he can’t attend because of health issues.”
