Pampore shuts to mourn militant killings

A complete shutdown was observed in Pampore Township on Saturday against killing of two local Lashkar-eToiba (LeT) militants.

All shops and business establishments remain closed whilepublic transport was off the roads.

   

The two militants, Irfan Ahmad Degu alias Abu Zarar of NainaLitter Pulwama and Tasaduk Amin Shah of Kakapora area of Pulwama, were killedduring the day long gunfight with security forces at Brawbandina village onFriday. One residential house was also damaged during the gunfight.

On Saturday people continued to visit families of slainmilitants in their native villages to express condolences.

Contingents of police and CRPF troopers were deployed atsensitive locations in the town to thwart any “untoward incident”, an officialsaid.

Train service on Srinagar-Banihal track continued to remainsuspended on second consecutive day today for security reasons. However, theservice was running normally in north Kashmir, an official said.The authorities however restored Internetservice in south Kashmir districts late Friday night after it was snapped inthe morning when the gunfight broke out
