Eleven independent candidates for Pattan municipal committee were elected unopposed as polling for the urban local bodies’ elections ended on Tuesday, while in two wards no nominations were received.
The municipal committee became the third urban local body in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district where no polling was held all.
In the earlier phases of the four-phased polling, eight BJP candidates were elected unopposed for the Sopore municipal committee. Out of the 21 wards for the urban local body 13 went uncontested.
Also, for the Kunzar municipal body two candidates won unopposed while no nominations were received for five wards.
