Patwaris’ pen-down strike enters 28th day, people suffer

The indefinite pen-down strike by Patwaris of revenue department has entered the 28th day affecting the daily office work across all tehsils in Ganderbal district.

The All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association (AJKPA) Ganderbal said that the agitation will be intensified after Eid if the state government fails to address their demands. The protesting employees said the government has still not initiated steps to resolve their issues, including grade pay of graduate Patwaris. The revenue employees have threatened to intensify the ongoing indefinite strike from June 11 if their demands remain unresolved.

“The creation of Patwar Halqas/Girdawar circles will ease out public delivery and the new land record can be made by Patwari effectively. Creating new Girdawar circles will also restore the jurisdiction of Naib tehsildar as presently Girdawar Qanoongo has more jurisdiction than a Naib tehsildar. These are not only our demands but the demands of common people,” said Bilal Ahmad, publicity secretary AJKPA District Ganderbal.

The revenue work across all tehsils of district Ganderbal has been badly affected from the last 28 days and common people continue to suffer.
