PDP takes out peace march, pitches for safety of minorities, Kashmiris

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday took out a peace march here. The protesters urged the central government to ensure safety of Kashmiris staying in different states across the country, a PDP spokesman said in a statement.

 He said that a peace march was led by PDP vice president Abdul Rahman Veeri. Other leaders, including Rafi Ahmad Mir, Khursheed Alam, Asiya Naqash, Muhammad Ashraf Mir,  Ali Muhammad and Arif Laigaroo also joined the march.

   

The leaders urged the governments of all states to take all requisite measures so that minorities and people hailing from Kashmir aren’t targeted, harassed or intimidated.

The leaders also conveyed concern over the smear campaign launched against Kashmiris by few fanatic groups, exposing the already perturbed people to greater risks.

They also pitched for communal harmony and tolerance in Jammu region wherein few elements are out to defame the brotherhood and communal harmony about which Jammu region is known for centuries.

PDP general secretary Ghulam Lone Hanjura urged the government to ensure safety of students studying in country’s various colleges and universities. 

Provisional youth president of PDP Nazir Ahmad Yatoo condemned the attack on Kashmiris and Durbar Move employees in Jammu and urged the government to provide security to them.  “Miscreants seem hell bent to damage the age old communal harmony of the state and it needs to be condemned by one and all.”

He appealed to the Governor’s administration to initiate stern action against the accussed so that such incidents don’t recur.
