Scores of Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wagers held candle light sit-in at Press Enclave here on Tuesday. They were demanding regularization of their service which they were promised years ago.
Protestors assembled under the banner of J&K Daily Wagers Association, holding placards which read "Regularize our services, No more cheating please."
Led by their President, Sajad Ahmad Parray they held candle light sit-in to press for their demands.
While taking to media persons, Parray said that the authorities should regularize the services of daily wagers without further delay. He said that more than 56000 families are suffering due to the delay caused by authorities.
"Finance Minister, Haseeb A Drabu had promised regularization. A committee headed by chief Secretary was formed in this regard. The committee had to submit their report on May 30," Parray said adding that the sub-committee meeting was held on May 30 in which it was decided that "those who have been appointed in the year 2007 to 2010 will be regularized. "
He said we have decided to march towards Secretariat and cover the assembly on 17th of June and if authorities still fail to accept our demands, we won't hesitate to move beyond protests and sit-ins.
