The Srinagar administration Thursday ordered closure of all places of worship in the district.
An official said that major shrines, Gurduwaras committeesand managements supported the decision of the administration.
Some of the worship places closed include the reveredHazratbal shrine, Naqshband Sahab shrine, Dastageer Sahab shrine andChattipadshahi Gurduwara.
The official said temples and churches were also broughtunder the closure order.
Earlier, many religious scholars belonging to differentfaiths urged people to suspend all religious gathering. Celebrations ofShab-e-Meraj and Navratra were also cancelled after call by respectivereligious organizations and scholars in view of Covid-19 threat.
