PM Modi’s remarks against Rajiv Gandhi deplorable: G A Mir

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) president G A Mir  on Thursday slammed Prime Minister  Narendra Modi over his remarks against  theformer Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, terming these as highly ‘deplorable, unacceptable and uncalled for’.

“The abusive language against Rajiv Gandhi has disheartenedthe country men at large.  Modi cannottransform his defeat into victory under the garb of targeting a martyr,” Mirsaid while addressing a meeting of senior party functionaries at party headquartershere.

   

“The unprincipled remarks were out of frustration whilehaving sensed defeat in the ongoing parliamentary elections across the countryon the part of outgoing PM,” Mir said.

“Rajiv Gandhi took prestige of the nation to the new heightsin every respect, worked tirelessly for the upliftment of people irrespectiveof their caste or religion. Targeting a martyr like Rajiv Gandhi, hasexhibited  PM Modi’s his real vision andlevel,” he said.

“By targeting late Rajiv Gandhi, PM Modi has hurt the sentiments of the nation. People will neverforgive him for his politics of deceit and falsehood,” he added.

 “Rajiv Gandhisacrificed his life for the integrity of the nation and shall always beremembered for his remarkable achievements as Prime Minister of the India,” hesaid.

Mir also hit out at BJP over attempting to bribe reportersin Leh, besides threatening people to ensure that they vote for them.

Referring to the toll tax at Chursoo, Mir emphasized thegovernment to revisit its decision of levying tax on the movement of the peopleand sought exemption of locals, with immediate effect.
