Police commemoration day observed across Kashmir

Police commemoration day which is observed every year on October 21st to salute the brave hearts, who sacrificed their lives, was today observed in all districts of the Valley, a police spokesman said in a statement.

 He said, “On this day, rich tributes are paid to the policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and in their remembrance, the day is observed as Police Commemoration Day. Their supreme sacrifice is an inspiration to everyone who proudly wears the khakhi and to mark their sacrifices, Police Commemoration parades were held across the Valley.”

   

 He said that parades were conducted and tributes were paid to the departed souls.

The commemoration day was observed in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore, Awantipora, Handwara, Bandipora, Budgam, Srinagar, Kargil and Leh. At these places the commemoration day was celebrated at their respective district police lines.

Later, district SPs interacted with the next of kins of the deceased policemen and distributed special gifts and cheques among them, the spokesman added.
