Srinagar police along with Executive Magistrates, CAPD, Legal Metrology and other concerned departments conducted market checking in Nowhatta, Gojwara, Lal Chowk and other markets of the city, a police spokesman said.
He said the aim of the market checking was to ensure thatgood qualities of items are put on sale, besides, to curb black marketing &profiteering of essential commodities.
During market checking, erring shopkeepers and vendors werefined on spot by the Executive Magistrates and other concerned departments.Rotten vegetables and fruits were destroyed on the spot.
Meanwhile, Police in Anantnag along with concerned ExecutiveMagistrates conducted markets checking in Aishmuqam, Bijbehara and other marketsof Anantnag district on Saturday, the spokesman said.
Similarly Police in Sopore along with Executive Magistratesand officials of other concerned departments conducted market checking in thejurisdiction of all Police Stations and Police Posts of Sopore.
