Police Thursday took action against shopkeepers overcharging from the customers.
SDPO Sadder accompanied by Tehsildar South along with DORangrath visited different areas of the Sadder Police sub division and checkedthe rate lists of the shopkeepers.
During surprise checks huge quantity of rotten vegetablesand fruits were destroyed while a fine of around Rs 7,000 was imposed on thehoarders and black marketers.
Various shops ranging from those selling chicken, meat,vegetables, sweets and fruits were checked. General buyers of the marketappreciated the step of the police along with civil administration and demandedthat such drive must continue in the holy month of Ramadan.
