Police, district admin plug Pampore Jhelum breach in time

A team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, District administration Pulwamaand Beacon on Saturday plugged a breach on the banks of Jhelum river in Pampore area of Pulwama district, preventing flooding in the area.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama a police team headed by SHO Pampore Mudasir Naseer along with employees of Road & Buildings and Beacon immediately reached the spot and saved the situation from taking an ugly turn, said an official.

   

He said the breach was filled instantly and Pampore town and its adjoining areas were saved from flooding. The traffic has been diverted now from the Highway towards New Bypass.

Superintendent of police Awantipora Mohammad Zahid Malik told Greater Kashmir that the entire police department is on job with the civil administration since yesterday.

“We are ascertaining the situation. The situation is not alarming as of now,” said Malik.
