Police foil AIP protest march against arrests

Police on Monday foiled the protest march of Awami Itihad Party (AIP) against arrests and to press for release of political leaders.

The protestors led by party president Er. Rashid assembledat Magarmalbagh here and tried to march towards to Civil Secretariat.

   

However, police interrupted the procession.

Earlier, Er Rashid condemned “arrest spree in every nook andcorner” and sought immediate release of political prisoners.

He added “all these suppressive measures are an attempt tomuzzle the voice of majority community in the state and dislodge local officersin police and civil administration.”

He said neither national media nor human rightsorganizations are showing any interest in exposing the “killers who are roamingfree and pretending to be priests.”

“We demand immediate arrest of those in uniform involved inRizwan Pandit’s brutal murder,” he said.

“Huge amount is being spent every year on Darbar. Thisamount can be used for better road connectivity by providing tunnels onKishtawar-Sinthan road and Mughal road. Srinagar should be made permanentcapital of the J&K state,” he said.

He said while bureaucrats and politicians are enjoying everyfacility, in most of the remote areas schools are without adequate staff,hospitals lack doctors and most of the offices have become hub of corruption asthere is no accountability.

“Bureaucrats should not forget they are government servants.We also appeal them to restore the basic immunities like power, drinking waterand roads without excuses,” he said.
