The residents of Hayan at Kangan area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district blocked Srinagar-Leh highway against the nonrepairment of a transformer of their locality.
The protestors put the transformer on the road and blocked the traffic movement on the highway.
Chanting slogans against PDD the residents staged protests to press their demand of restoring electricity in their area.
The protesters said that the 63 KV tansfarmer of their locality is often receiving technical snags as it being a low capacity transformer is unable to take load of more than six dozen families of their area.
"Our repeated plea of instaling a high capacity transfer in our locality before concerned authoroties is being ignored time and again,so we decided today to come on roads,so that our voice can be heared," they said.
The barricades were removed only after PDD senior officials and police reached the spot and assured protesters redressal their grievances at the earliest.
