Principal Diskit HSS suspended for inviting ex-MLA as chief guest for function

Chief education officer Leh, Konchok Angmo, has suspended principal higher secondary School Diskit, Tsering Dorjay for inviting former legislator Deldan Namgyal as chief guest at a function held at the school recently.

The suspension letter issued by Angmo reads that chief executive councilor had taken a “very serious note” of the issue and sought and explanation from the principal and “desired to place him under suspension”.

   

The invitation cards issued for the function had shown the former MLA as sitting legislator.

In the letter the CEO mentions that the principal had mentioned her name as a special guest in the invitation cards without her knowledge.

Following the suspension order teacher of the school wrote to the CEO to “clarify” that they had invited former MLA as he had given Rs 43 lakhs to the school for improvement of infrastructure and construction and renovation of old boys hostel.

The teachers have appealed to the CEO to reconsider her order “or we request you to suspend all staff members in his (the teacher) support,” reads the letter.
