Prominent preacher dead, three injured in car accident in Bijbehara

Srinagar, Dec 10: Prominent preacher from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Haji Tanveer Ahmad Qureshi was killed even as three others were injured after the car they were traveling in hit a road divider in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag along the Srinagar-Jammu highway last night, officials said on Friday night.

Quoting a police official, news agency GNS reported that the car bearing registration number JK15 0193 skidded off the road and hit the road divider at Arwani Bijbehara at around 2 AM.

   

In the incident, Tanveer Ahmad Qureshi son of Fazl-ur-Qureshi, resident of Karnah Kupwara, at present Bumhama Kupwara died on spot as per an official.

Three others traveling with him identified by the official as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Jabbar Mir, resident of Trehgam Kupwara, Shahzad Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, resident of Lolab Kupwara, Umer Khan son of Mohammad Shareef Khan, resident of Dolipora Handwara were injured and were taken to SMHS hospital for treatment.

It has been learnt that Imtiyaz continues to remain in critical condition.
