Clashes erupted between protesters and the government forces in Sagam area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday to disrupt the anti-militant operation.
An eye witness said that the protesters blocked the road leading to Pahlipora Larnoo forests in Kokernag where 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped.
Forces, he said, fired several shots in the air to disperse the protesters who were pelting them with stones.
Meanwhile, reports said that forces have pressed choppers into service to nab the militants.
Mobile Internet services have also been snapped across Kulgam and Anantnag districts.
So far, two militants have been killed in the gunfight that began today morning.
