Pulwama gunfight: Mobile Internet suspended in south Kashmir parts

Authorities on Monday suspended mobile Internet services in south Kashmir parts where a gunbattle is going on between government forces and the militants.

An official said the step has been taken as a “precautionary measure to stop spread of rumours.”

   

A gunfight broke out in Drubgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district early today. So far two army men, including an officer, have been wounded in the gunfight.

A major and a soldier of 44 RR were injured in initial exchange of fire with the militants, reports said. The injured were shifted to 92 base military hospital in Badami Bagh Srinagar.

At least eight protesters have been injured during clashes near the firefight site.
