Pulwama shuts for fourth straight day against militant killings

Pulwama town in southern Kashmir remained shut for fourth straight day on Monday against recent militant killings.

An eye witness said all shops and other business establishments are closed in the area while a skeletal movement of traffic was seen on the roads.

   

Four Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Hanjan Payeen village of Pulwama district on Saturday. Three of them were local residents while one was a foreigner, police said.

A militant was killed in a brief firefight with the forces in Awantipora area of the district on Friday, triggering shutdown in the district.
