Punish those spreading communal hatred: CPI (M)

The Polit Bureau of CPI (M) on Wednesday condemned the communal targeting of largest religious minority which according to the party was increasingly taking place during the battle against the coronavirus.

Nasty abuses, social media postings by trolls of the rulingparty supporters are simply not acceptable. They violate basic constitutionalprovisions. Such crimes must be proceeded against and punished in accordancewith law,” said a statement.

   

“This communal hate campaign under the patronage of theruling party at the Centre is putting livelihood of millions of Indians,working and living abroad, at risk,” the party said, adding in 2019 alone,about three lakh Indians joined lakhs of others in the Gulf countries and WestAsia, from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and WestBengal.

The statement said the central government  must immediately invoke provisions of theDisaster Management Act and take action against people, including politicalleaders and others holding high offices, who disrupt united fight against thepandemic by spreading venomous communal hatred.
