Qazi Afzal laid to rest

Hundreds of people Saturday attended the funeral of formerminister and senior PDP leader Qazi Mohammad Afzal, who passed away late Fridayevening. The deceased was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Lar,Ganderbal.

PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba MuftiSaturday afternoon visited the bereaved family here to offer condolences. Muftiprayed for the peace to the departed soul.

   

Senior PDP leaders Nizam ud din Bhat, Rafi Mir and BashirAhmed Mir also visited the bereaved family.

 District presidentPDP Ganderbal,  Bashir Ahmed Mir saidthat Qazi Afzal was the “most influential” politician in the state.

 In his condolencemessage, former finance minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari described thedeceased a noted politician, social activist and a noble personality who wasknown for his “public welfare commitments in his district”.

“Late Qazi sahib was one of the astute politicians ofKashmir valley who was known for his pro-people stand. During my associationwith him, I found him a thorough gentleman with an optimistic personality.

PDP vice-president A R Veeri while condoling the demise ofQazi Afzal said the deceased was a gentleman whose “political, social,developmental and welfare measures towards the people of Ganderbal will bealways remembered.”

PDP leader Naeem Akhtar while paying tributes to Qazi Afzaltermed him a “quintessential political worker who in spite of his age andfailing health, continued to be among his people and tried as best as he couldto help them.”

CPI (M) leader and former MLA Kulgam, Muhammad YousufTarigami Saturday expressed grief over the demise of PDP leader and sympathy tothe bereaved family.

People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president and former MLAKhansahib Hakim Mohammad Yaseen expressed grief over the demise of the PDPleader and sympathy with the bereaved family.

Hakeem also prayed for the eternal peace to the departedsoul.

Among others who offered condolences included DPN presidentGhulam Hassan Mir, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Monga, PDP leader Abdul QayoomWani, NC leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Congress leader Sahil Farooq, IrfanNaqshbandi and others.
