Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday said the quality education is the major tool for the development and upliftment of nations.
He urged the people of Kashmir to invest their resources ontheir children so that a better tomorrow is built. “No nation in the world canprogress unless it makes the imparting quality education to its children as itsmission and aim as it is quite evidentthat western countries have touched new heights in progress and development by puttingin its resources into education and research in various fields,” Mirwaiz said, while addressing a functionat Four Friends Public School GiliKadal, Nowshehra where a galaxy of students,teachers and civil society activists and youth were present.
Mirwaiz said that Kashmiri children are full of talent andthey can compete with other students at any level but the only thing is thattheir talent needs to be explored in a better way.
Mirwaiz stressed while imparting worldly knowledge to thechildren, moral and ethical values should be inculcated among the students andIslamic teaching should act as guiding principles and there should be nocompromise on this front.
Mirwaiz said that “when Kashmir was under the tight grip ofilliteracy, darkness, poverty and atrocities around 120 years ago, the thenMirwaizAlamaGhulamRasool Shah laid the foundation of Islamiaschool and launcheda large scale war against poverty and illiteracy in Kashmir. Today whole valleyis reaping the benefits of the step taken by late Mirwaiz Shah in the shape ofeducational institutions that have come up in every area of the region which isa welcome step.”
Mirwaiz felicitated the patron, principal and entireteaching fraternity hailed the management’s decision of introducing better facilitiesand modern technology to impart education to the students admitted in theinstitution including computers and other gadgets stating that this can helpstudents gain knowledge in a better way and compete with the students of othercountries. Mirwaiz prayed for the progress of the institution and expressed hisgratitude to the entire staff and students.
