Rafiabad residents protest, demand posting of tehsildar

The inhabitants of Rafiabad area on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the authorities accusing them of delaying the posting of a tehsildar in the area.

Scores of people assembled outside tehsil office Watergam and held protests against the authorities.

They said the tehsil office was without a tehsildar for last four months. The protestors blocked Baramulla-Handwara road.

“We have been facing tremendous difficulties due to non-posting of the tehsildar here. We travel from far off places to tehsil office every day only to find that no tehsildar has been posted as yet. In absence of the officer, we are forced to return our homes with disappointment,” said a group of protestors.

They said their repeated pleas to the authorities in this regard have fallen on deaf ears. “We have been forced to come out on the roads for this small but important issue.”

Meanwhile, the protestors appealed the divisional commissioner Kashmir to post a tehsildar to the tehsil without any further delay.
