Rahul Gandhi to visit Pampore, Sopore today
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi is arriving in Kashmir Thursday on a day's visit and is scheduled to visit Pampore and Sopore areas, besides discussing the state of affairs in the party.
Party sources said Rahul will first visit Dusso area of Pampore where he will interact with saffron growers. They said later he will visit Sopore and address a workers' rally at Dak Bungalow.
A senior Congress leader said that Rahul will also discuss party affairs with senior leaders. "The infighting in the faction-ridden state unit of Congress has escalated recently," he said, adding that former Working Committee member Gulchain Singh Charak and former Ministers Abdul Ghani Vakil and Prem Sagar Aziz were recently suspended from the primary membership for "indulging in anti-party activities."
"The three were not comfortable since party's central leadership appointed former Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir as the head of the state unit early this year," the senior Congress leader said, adding that ways and means would be explored to get them back in the party fold.
