Rain, snow likely in J&K over next 2 days

Srinagar, Apr 17: The Meteorological Department has forecast another spell of rain and snow over the next two days, as below-normal temperatures persist in Jammu and Kashmir.

The MeT office said that light to moderate rain, along with light snow over the higher reaches, is expected at most places, accompanied by thunder and lightning on Thursday and Friday.

   

While the weather remained dry and partially cloudy on Wednesday, the MeT office cautioned about the possibility of afternoon thundershower activities from April 21 to April 25, even though the period is likely to be generally dry.

On Wednesday, except for a few stations, the night temperature was recorded below normal in Kashmir.

Similarly, the day temperature was also noted to be 2-4 degrees Celsius below normal in all weather stations of Kashmir on Tuesday.

Srinagar witnessed a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night, which was 1.5 degrees above normal during this season.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 2.1 degrees Celsius, down from 8.1 degrees Celsius the previous night, and 1.3 degrees below normal.

Kupwara registered a temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius, which was 0.6 degrees below normal.

Gulmarg had a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius, compared to 3.2 degrees Celsius the previous night, and it was 0.7 degrees below normal.
