National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana on Thursday castigated BJP for spreading "misinformation" over Article 35-A which grants special status to state's people.
"How can a proviso of the Constitution of India be anti-national," Rana said in a statement.
He said Article 35-A is religion neutral.
"…the adversaries of Article 35-A are now frustrated over their disinformation campaign on this constitutional proviso, which has backfired," he said.
He said BJP is "misleading" public.
"…the laws concerning the rights of the people were being twisted with a sinister objective of weakening the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the Union," he said.
He said people of Jammu region irrespective of caste, creed and religion should stand against any fiddling with Article 35-A.
"The fall out of removing this constitutional proviso will be detrimental to overall interests of the state in general and the people of Jammu in particular", he said.
