Rasheed raises issue of Kashmiri cricketers detained over Pak anthem in assembly, marshaled out

Independent MLA Er Rasheed was on Tuesday marshalled out of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly after he raised the issue of cricketers detained over the playing of Pakistan anthem during a match in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

“What sin have the youth committed if they played Pakistani anthem during their match,” Rasheed yelled in the House after alleging that mis-governance was the reason behind such incidents.

Following this, the speaker Kavinder Gupta ordered the Marshals to take him out of the House.

Earlier, MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed asked the government to release the Bandipora youth who were detained for playing Pakistani anthem during the match.

A video showing the cricketers lining up as Pakistan anthem plays in the background during a match in Arin area of Bandipora had gone viral on social media.
