Slain militant of Puni Reasi, Akhtar Alam alias Tayyab, who along with his two colleagues, was killed in a gunfight with the government forces at Bamnoo Pulwama on Monday was laid to rest at Khojpora village in Shopian district on Wednesday.
Thousands of people participated in his funeral procession, while Pulwama and Shopian areas observed a complete shutdown today to mourn the killing of three militants.
"The body of the slain militant was taken by his family members, who had come from Reasi, to Khojpora where he was buried" a police official said.
Five houses and a cowshed were also destroyed by the government forces during the gunfight. At least 55 persons were injured in massive clashes near the encounter site.
