‘Return mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat, Afzal Guru’

A memorandum framed by Kashmir’s Joint Resistance Leadership to seek return of the mortal remains of Muhammad MaqboolBhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru from Tihar Jail was read and adopted in masjids across Kashmir on Friday.

The memorandum stated: “This gathering demands the return of the mortal remains of foremost resistance leader of Kashmir Muhammad MaqboolBhat and great warrior Muhammad Afzal Guru who are buried at Tihar Jail Delhi and stresses upon international human rights organizations to play their role to bring back these remains.”

   

“The gathering reiterates that the sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris are unforgettable and the movement for which people, including Bhat and Guru, laid down their lives will continue at every cost till the goal is achieved,” it added.

“This gathering demands an early release of thousands of Kashmiris including Dr Muhammad QasimFaktoo, MasratAlamBhat, Muhammad ShafiShariati, GhulamQadir Butt, Syed SajidBukhari, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmed Fantoosh, Muhammad Ayaz Akbar, PirSaifullah, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, MerajuddinKalwal, Naeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, ShahidYousuf Shah, Kamran Yousuf, Javed Ahmed, Muhammad AslamWani, Zahoor Ahmad Wattali, Aqib Ahmed, GhulamJeelani, Farooq Ahmad Dugha, Muhammad Siddique Ganie, Muzaffar Ahmed and many others who have been languishing in jails from decades now and wants to make clear that incarcerations and oppressive tactics can never suppress our legitimate struggle,” the memorandum  stated.

It further stated: “The gathering strongly condemns the ongoing killing spree by forces, intimidations, arrests and incarcerating or house arresting leadership, banning and choking peaceful political resistance programs and space and demand from international community to play its role to put an end to these gruesome atrocities being committed against Kashmiris.”
